Increased Fuel Oil production of 1.2% was noted because a quantity of Gas Oil was escaping as Fuel Oil (degradation of product during distillation) with noticeable ensuing economic losses. This was mainly due to the limitation of the crude preheating furnace and the inability to obtain heat recovery from the heat exchanger preheater train. The improper temperature of the Transfer Line affected the Flash Zone of the distillation column, resulting in low production of Gas Oil.
The overall modifications of the CDU, resulted in the production of high added value of products, approximately 2% by weight.
